Border Landcare Organic Group

Welcome. The Border Landcare Organic Group was formed during the winter of 2002.
Every month members meet either at the home of one of the members for a farm walk, group discussions, interesting speakers, working bees etc, or we may go on a bus trip to places further afield.
These are generally held on the fourth Saturday of the month, and start at 10am.
Bring lunch to share, cup/glass/plates etc and a seat. Don’t forget your hat! If unsure of directions etc ring one of the contacts listed below.

Please note that the date in black print below Bulletin Items relates to the date that the item was raised and not the date of the Activity.

Date of the Activity is in green print directly below its heading.

Also on the Horizon.

Goats - Meat, Milk, Yoghurt and Tempeh.
Saturday November 22, 2008 [Confirmed]

(20-Nov-08)

Our hosts will be Terry Pinney and Andrew Cumming, who have set up a large goat shed, where they are producing meat and milk goats.
The plan is to arrive at 10am. At 11 am sharp (?), Aki and Marg will show us part of the tempeh making process, a highly nutritious addition to a vegetarian diet.
Then Terry will give a talk about their place and the goats, followed by Vicki demonstrating yoghurt making from the goat's milk freshly milked by Terry that morning.
After this, Aki and Marg will show us the next part of the tembeh making process.
There will be fresh goat's milk to try, and a range of goat's milk products for tasting. Also, there will be some finished tempeh to taste.
If you want to take some goat culture home, please bring a glass jar with a lid, and a mit to keep it warm on the way home.
As this is the 2008 break up, there will be a barbeque available if anybody wants to use it.
This will be on the corner of Armstrong Lane and Eukey Road, Eukey.
From Stanthorpe, take Sugarloaf Road out of town. Don't turn right or left, keep going past the Eukey Hall, then turn left into Armstrong Lane. It is well sign-posted and the field day is on the corner in easy view.
If you are travelling from the south, at Ballandean turn rjight into Eukey Road, and Armstrong Lane is on your right.
